My ‘Rent the Runway’ Experience

Hi dolls!

It has been way too long since I have been on here.  I have been meaning to get a bunch of my pics together from our Euro trip and still have yet to get to it!  I wish I worked part time so I had way more time to post, but that is another story lol. Those posts will be up soon 🙂

I hope everyone had a nice long Labor Day weekend!  I got to go home to see my family (which is always great!) and we also had a wedding for one of Tom’s good friends which was so much fun.

This post is mainly about the outfit I decided to wear to this super fun wedding this past weekend.  I don’t know about you guys but I do not like to ‘outfit repeat.’  I know, that sounds so silly and totally irrational, but I just hate to do it.  Let me explain a little, I do not like to repeat outfits for formal occasions or nights out that I will be in a ton of pictures.  I like to wear trendy items and those change from season to season so I feel like once I wear this dress it needs to be retired haha.  I have always felt this way and like I said I know it sounds pretty ridiculous but hey, I am being honest.  So with that all being said I used to hate spending a lot of money on”going out” dresses or dresses for formal affairs since I would just wear them once.

Rent the Runway has been such a life changer for me!  This is the 2nd time that I rented a dress for a wedding and both times have been great experiences.  You can choose from a huge selection of dresses, sizes 0-22, and for all different occasions.  You can even rent accessories, which I have not yet tried.  For this particular wedding I searched for cocktail dresses, knee length and fitted.  You can also search by price range.  Prices vary depending on designer and style but you can rent a dress starting at $30 which is a steal.  Did I forget to mention that these are all designer dresses?! They have so many different designers from Badgley Mischka and Cynthia Rowly to Diane von Furstenberg and many in between.

What I really love about this site are the reviews and details given by the customers that actually wear the clothing to events.  It is always hard to guess what size will work because you have to consider the material (does it stretch?) ,silhouette and for some reason different designers size things differently.  Many things to consider and I was a bit stressed out the first time because who wants to be without a dress last minute?  Well, that was not the case because of the awesome reviews left.  Women post a picture and then give details on what their height, weight, body shape and even cup size are.  They will tell you if the fabric is sheer, thick, stretchy etc.  It is soo helpful seeing it on “non-model” bodies and then making a more realistic  assessment for yourself.  I have such an issue sometimes with finding dresses to fit over my DD bust.  I was reading some reviews that women posted saying they were a DD and were able to wear the dress (the one I ended up renting) without a bra! That is unheard of for me haha.  So I ordered it and was very happy.  To make things even better they allow you to get a second size in the same dress for free.  That way if the one size is a bit off then maybe the back up will work better.  They also send it in a zip up garment bag with a free return label.  You do NOT have to clean it, just put it in the bag and the return label on it and drop it off at UPS, super easy.  I HIGHLY recommend trying RTR for your next formal event.  I have 2 weddings coming up in November that are black tie and I plan on getting a pretty long dress for each one.

Here are some pictures I was able to get in the dress

Close up of the details.  The mesh was also stretchy and the fabric was nice and thick which made it possible to wear without a bra
